The Sheffield RepRap User Group Meeting #2

The meeting is arranged for Monday August 23rd 19:00 to 20:30 adjourn to pub after for refreshment.

    Agenda/s

    Last Meeting:-

    1. Volunteer/s to co organise were asked for and folk were invited to have a think about it.
    2. We pretty much agreed to organise loosely around once a calendar month initially and to review this as we proceed.
    3. There was a great deal of useful and constructive discussion around personal objectives and how to seed the groups machine builds. In summary it became clear that the best way forward was to multi source RepRaps rather than attempt to collaborate on a single machine. This was considered to give best chances of success. It was agreed that taking this approach through the group developing as mutually supportive sub groups focusing on their preferred build design and method had significant advantages. Not least being that everyone gets to take part and help each other, get what they want fro the activity, while gaining experience of each others chosen routes. It was great to see the spread of skills, capabilities and interests that the group possessed.

    A.O.B.

    1. Following on from main agenda item 3 there was much discussion around how to bootstrap the groups understanding of RepRap Technology, function and application. There was recognition that most in the group had particular skills to offer but needed to know more of other skills areas to gain the capabilities and confidence that they felt they needed. The proposed solution was to organise a brief skills builder session for each meeting. A mini light touch tutorial (Byte sized pieces, pun intended) covering a different topic each meeting. The first scheduled for the next meeting would be a “Systems view of RepRap and CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)”.

    2. A date for the next meeting was left TBA.

The Agenda for this Meeting :-

    1. Forward Planning of Meeting Dates. (6 Month advance forecast, hopefully more accurate)
    2. Christmas, Meet and/or Social.
    3. Forward Planning of Skills Builders.
    4. Seeding the Groups RepRaps, Ideas & Progress.
    5. Purchasing, Cost reduction strategies.
    6. This Meetings Skills Builder “”A Systems view of RepRap and CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)”
    7. Bring in something RepRap oriented and tell us about it.

A.O.B. Absolutely anything on the day.
